Since its scientific discovery in 1911 by Professor Hiram Bingham, Machupicchu has been the subject of numerous scientific investigations. These researches aim to characterize the constructive, social, economic, cultural and political processes of the Inca State. With the passage of time, these researches have been diversifying and considering other archaeological sites within the 38160.87 hectares of the Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu.
In recent years, researchers from the Ministry of Culture of Peru have developed research work through various interventions such as the “Archaeological and Interdisciplinary Research Program in the Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu” (PIAISHM) between 2014 and 2018, the “Research Project The Prehispanic Ceramics of Salapunku, sector Isla Chico (Machupicchu, Peru): an introduction to their production and provenance” (PICIC) in 2023, and the “Archaeological and Interdisciplinary Research Program for Conservation and Valorization in the Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu 2019-2024” (PRIAICFCPVSHM 2019-2024).
As a result of this work, the following publications are available:
